What is PDF compression?

PDF compression reduces a PDF’s file size by downsampling images, removing redundant data, and optimizing fonts, so the file is quicker to email, upload, and share. Students, professionals, and small businesses compress PDF files to fit them under email and upload size limits.

How the PDF Compressor works

  1. Step 1

    Upload your PDF

Simply drag and drop your file anywhere on the page or click Choose file. Files up to 100 MB and 200 pages are accepted.

  2. Step 2

    Choose a compression level

The tool compresses your PDF automatically. To compare the Balanced and Strong compression levels and see the estimated size first, open the file in the Eliten app.

  3. Step 3

    Download your compressed PDF

Click Compress PDF, then download your compressed PDF.

Why use Eliten’s PDF Compressor

  • Make a PDF smaller in a few clicks

Compressing a PDF takes a few clicks and no manual editing, which matters when an email or portal rejects large files. Gmail, for example, limits attachments to 25 MB per message, and many upload forms set much lower caps.

  • Browser based, on any device

The online PDF compressor runs in your browser on Windows, Mac, Linux, and phones, with no software to install and nothing to update.

  • Part of an all-in-one AI workspace

The PDF compression tool sits alongside Eliten’s other PDF tools and AI text tools. Once the PDF is smaller, you can keep working on it without switching apps or uploading it again.

Compression quality, file security & privacy

How much a PDF shrinks depends on what’s inside it. Image-heavy files have the most room to compress, while documents that are mostly text, or files already optimized when they were exported, shrink less. In one test, a six-page text document went from 134 KB to 106 KB, about a fifth smaller.

Uploaded files remain private: they’re handled securely and are never used to train models.
